About this episode
1944 BURMA Myanmar Humanitarian Crisis Dynamics Kelley Currie, co-host Gordon Chang: Myanmar suffers a severe humanitarian disaster and full-blown civil war following the military junta's 2021 coup, resulting in widespread targeted civilian casualties. Despite urgent international warnings, countries like Malaysia repatriate nationals back to the oppressive regime. China heavily interferes by backing the junta with weaponry while securing strategic rare earth mines and Indian Ocean transit corridors. Meanwhile, a broad-based resistance coalition fights back as international bodies struggle to enforce regional diplomatic peace consensus. (4)
